Innovation & Devotion @ Crank 18th April 08 Review

Friday 18th April the D`n`BUploader Team were back on the road again, destination Bournemouth at The Crank Club.

We were reviewing Innovation & Devotion, two of the most exciting Drum`n `Bass events in the UK.

The Crank Club is situated in the Town Centre, an intimate and well equiped venue,

The parking outside is limited so we were glad to arrive early and claim our space.

Once inside the vibe was already cooking, within no time at all the club was full of Friday night Drum`n`Bass revellers, a lively happy crowd!

The line up on the night was massive, how much better does it get when you`ve got the three main DJ`s from the playaz camp

Hype Pascal and Hazzard all under one roof , you know its gonna be messy! They weren`t the only big names on the bill with the likes of Phantasy and Brian G, Nicky Black Market and Brockie, this club will certainly be banging till 5am! Controlling the crowd MC IC3 Skibba and Shabba smashed it as they usually do!

The dance style is as heavy and chaotic as the beats being dropped, with clubbers throwing themselves around the dance floor! It looks like a giant mosh pit but it works and the atmosphere is electric! After all that energy your thirst won`t be burning a hole in your pocket like it does in London Clubs, the drinks were cheeeeaaap! Big up Bournemouth!!

There`s no doubt from Innovation and Devotion events that the Drum `n` Bass scene is alive and well, the tunes are bigger and badder than before and the MC`s and DJ`s are still putting 100% into what they do. The years of experience as artists truly shows with the energy still on top form and the mixing and MCing Skills second to none.

If you`re looking for a brilliant Drum`n`Bass night out then look no further than a Devotion or Innovation event, they truly deliver, with the cream of the crop when it comes to DJ`s and MC`s and the crowds are without doubt one of the best party crowds about.

On Saturday the 14th January the DnBUploader team found themselves at the Coronet Club in Elephant & Castle for Innovation.

We planned to arrive early to beat the crowds but it seemed like everyone else had the same idea!

We got to the club at around 9.30pm to find there was already a queue forming, It was freezing but no-one seemed to care,

the atmosphere was already buzzing!

We were led into Innovation by the friendly & professional door staff , the club was huge (previously a theatre)

so we wasted no time in finding our way around.

There were 3 floors of slamming Drum n` Bass, so we had a lot of ground to cover getting photos & interviews.

It wasnt long before the whole place was heaving, people were dressed in all sorts of costumes,

ready to rave & have a good night out, there was a real old school vibe reminiscent of the late 80`s/early 90`s.

DJ`s on the night slamming some of the hardest Drum`n Bass included Olly,Swift, Die, Phantasy, Hype, Brian G, Andy C & many more,

all played wicked sets but for the DnBUploader Team DJ Phantasy was given top marks for the sharpest set of the night.

MC`s also on top form included Evil B, Shabba, Irie and Mc Blacka tearing the house down!

Last few words to round this up, all in all a great night had by all, big respect to the innovation team!

If anyone thinks the Drum n` Bass scene isn`t alive and vibrant you need to get yourself to an Innovation Night

you`ll soon agree that its firing on all cylinders. You can catch DnB at the next one.
